Getting your hair done can be a relaxing and even therapeutic experience. That's one reason why a program in the Denver metro called Project HairCare saw the opportunity to train barbers and stylists to help customers work through mental health challenges.

A new resource is bringing culturally appropriate health care providers to Black Coloradans. It's called the Colorado Black Health Resource Directory -- a collaboration between Colorado Black Health Collaborative and Connect for Health Colorado. The 108-page guide is the most comprehensive source of Black health information in Colorado and provides listings for doctors and specialists from Fort Collins to Pueblo.

The Colorado Black Health Resource Directory is published by the Colorado Black Health Collaborative, in partnership with Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance exchange.

The $25,000 donation is from UCHealth, which partnered with Jamal Murray to raise awareness for the program.

UCHealth has awarded twelve Colorado nonprofits with transformative grant funding to strengthen mental health, food security, economic stability, and community wellness programs. Learn which organizations received support and how these grants will impact Colorado communities.
