We’re Talking to Our Youth to Head Off Tobacco Companies

In the spirit of collaboration, the CBHC TMBC Project Team partnered with seven Black youth-focused organizations to plan and host a Tobacco-Nicotine Youth Summit.

The Youth Summit was a tremendous success, drawing 80 enthusiastic participants. It provided numerous opportunities to connect with young people and raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine. Engagement remained strong and consistent throughout the event, with participants showing sustained interest and positive energy from start to finish.

Menthol Tobacco Knockout

“The Youth Summit was an eye-opening conversation on the dangers and misunderstandings of tobacco use and how misuse of this substance can do great harm to oneself as well as their loved ones.

The youth-led workshops sparked creative dialogue. The beautifully presented gallery walk was both informative and artistic, and the panel provoked conversations around tobacco in a safe and enlightening environment.”

Emotional Brain Training

Emotional Brain Training (EBT) is a scientific, proven method to rewire your brain. Whether you are stuck in anxiety, depression, or anger, or feel out of control of relationships, food, work, drugs, or alcohol, the problem is not you. It’s a wire in your brain – and you can rewire it with EBT.

Stress chemicals cause the need to smoke. EBT shuts off these chemicals and activates chemicals that reward you with dopamine so that the drive to smoke decreases.

The African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) and the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center (SCLC) of the University of California, San Francisco have joined forces to promote Spiral Up Lite.

Spiral Up Lite is a FREE innovative mobile app that anyone can use to access rapid-acting tools to assist with smoking cessation. The app is based on the neuroscience of EBT, which has shown long-term effectiveness in treating today’s extreme stress levels, as well as mood and addictive behaviors, including smoking.
