About the event

WHY we’re gathering
CBHC is building a Navigation Hub: a trusted directory of Black queer health, healing, wellness, and mental health providers across Colorado. We want it shaped by our own community. Over two sessions, we’ll talk about your experiences finding mental health and wellness support, what helped, what got in the way, and the Black queer providers you’ve loved and would want to uplift.
WHAT to expect
These are not lectures or long interviews. Sessions are interactive and conversational, with small-group discussion, an interactive idea wall, and a living community map. We will begin and end with a short survey. You can skip any question, take a break, or step away anytime.
WHEN & WHERE we’ll meet
**Before you confirm: this is a 2-part series. We’re asking everyone to commit to attending both sessions, because Session 2 builds directly on what we share in Session 1. If you can make both, we’d love to have you!
*Session 1 (in person)
Thursday, November 5, 6:00–7:30 PM
Natural Grocers, 4500 Alameda, Aurora, CO 80246
Doors open at 5:45 PM. Light snacks provided.
Focus: barriers to care and what builds trust with a provider
*Session 2 (virtual)
Thursday, November 12, 6:00–7:30 PM
Google Meet (the link is in your calendar invite)
Focus: affirming resources and what would help our community most
Life happens! If something comes up and you can’t make it, please just let us know so we can offer your spot to someone else.
Our thanks to you!
You’ll receive a $50 gift card at the end of each session, $100 total for both.
Confidentiality agreement (required)
To protect everyone in the room, all participants sign a CBHC confidentiality agreement (NDA) before we begin. It asks each of us to keep what others share in the group private. We’ll have copies at the first session, or we can send it to you ahead of time. Your name won’t appear in any notes or reports.
Optional: Share your story and win an extra $50! 🎉
Want a chance to win an additional $50 gift card? We’d love to lift up a few community voices in our final report to CBHC’s funder. All you have to do share a quote, your name, and a photo. It only requires signing one additional consent form (a Prime Health media release). Everyone who opts in will be entered into a drawing for an extra $50 gift card, and there are 2 chances to win, one drawing at each session! This is completely optional.
About the space
We’ll meet in the community room inside Natural Grocers. The room is on the ground floor ramps or steps access from the parking lot and store entrance. Free parking is available in the lot, including accessible spaces near the door. Gender-neutral and accessible restrooms are located inside the store. Seating includes wooden chairs with backs and no arms, and you’re welcome to stand, move around, or step out anytime. The room is right behind the registers, so there may be some background noise; let us know if you’d like a quieter seat. The store is on an RTD bus line, with Route 3 (Alameda) in front of the store and Route 83L (Leetsdale) running nearby.
If you have any questions or access needs (mobility, hearing, vision, sensory, dietary, or anything else), just reply or text 720-579-2126 and we’ll plan for it.
We’re grateful you’re bringing your voice to this work. See you on the 5th!
